Cardinia Leisure is progressing through the Rainbow Roadmap in partnership with Proud 2 Play, taking practical steps to ensure our facilities, services and programs are safe, welcoming and inclusive for everyone, including LGBTQIA+ communities.
As part of this journey, we are recognising IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) within our facility.
Visible Support in Our Centre
Members and visitors will notice decorations and posters throughout our facility marking IDAHOBIT Day. These are more than just colourful additions, they represent an important message of inclusion, respect and belonging.
By creating visible signs of support, Cardinia Leisure is helping to:
- Raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ inclusion
- Celebrate diversity within the community
- Reinforce that our facility is safe and a welcoming space for everyone
These displays reflect what the Rainbow Roadmap is all about, which is taking practical, everyday actions that make people feel seen, respected and supported.
Turning Commitment into Action
Through our partnership with Proud 2 Play, we are working to reduce stigma and create safe, affirming spaces through sport and recreation. As part of this, we are:
- Providing staff training to build understanding of LGBTQIA+ inclusion
- Reviewing our programs, policies and day-to-day practices to better support LGBTQIA+ inclusion
- Promoting safe and welcoming environments for all
