What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a gentle yet powerful full-body workout that builds strength, flexibility, and control without placing stress on your joints. Using the specialised reformer bed, adjustable springs allow each movement to be tailored to your individual needs-whether you’re just beginning or ready to push your limits.

Reformer Pilates Classes

Experience total body conditioning with our Reformer Pilates classes, open to all ages and abilities.

Reformer Pilates

Small group class, designed for all abilities & fitness levels with qualified instructors. A full body workout using spring-loaded resistance reformer beds with a focus on building strength, improving flexibility, balance and posture.

Restorative Reformer

Gentle, slower paced class designed to focus on stretching and flexibility. Specific exercises to help release tension, improve mobility, enhance flexibility and improve overall physical and emotional well-being.

Hybrid Reformer

Fun and energetic circuit-based Pilates class focusing on improving both fitness and strength. You'll move through a variety of stations using Pilates equipment, bikes, weights, and more. Whether you're just starting out or looking to take your training to the next level, this class is designed to challenge and support you.

Mindful Movement Studio

Utilizing a comprehensive range of Pilates apparatus including Wunda Chair, barrel, tower and reformer. Our certified instructors create tailored classes designed to build strength, enhance mobility, refine techniques, and improve overall wellbeing.

Alex

Alex’s Pilates journey began a fair few years ago when he was looking to increase his core strength and improve his overall strength training. After participating for many years and noticing how much fitter and stronger he was in all his other classes, he took the next step and completed his Mat Pilates training in 2023 then onto his reformer training in 2024.

Alex loves the versatility of Pilates and the way it makes your body feel! Classes can be suited to any level and leave you with a feeling of accomplishment at the end.

Melissa brings over 15 plus years of experience in the fitness industry, with a career spanning multiple class styles and a deep passion for helping people move with confidence. She began her Pilates journey teaching Mat Pilates, and along the way discovered her love for Reformer and Studio Pilates. This passion led her to complete an Integrated Diploma of Pilates, expanding her expertise and reinforcing her commitment to holistic movement.

Throughout her career, Melissa has seen firsthand how Pilates can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels—from young adults building strength and resilience to seniors seeking to maintain mobility and independence. She is dedicated to educating clients on how to connect with their bodies, activate the right muscles, and unlock the physical and mental benefits that Pilates offers.

Nicole

Nicole has been teaching Reformer Pilates for four years and has been practicing it for nine, originally discovering it as a form of rehabilitation after a cheerleading injury. Her classes focus on a full-body flow designed to leave you feeling the burn. She also loves to incorporate short breathwork sessions at the beginning and end of each class.

Sarah

Sarah is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) following an undergraduate in Exercise and Sport Science and a Masters in Exercise for Rehabilitation. 

Sarah has worked in acute, subacute and community Orthopaedic, Cardiorespiratory and organ transplant rehabilitation. 

She completed her certificate IV in Pilates in 2016 and has been teaching for the 9 years since in small studios alongside working in the gym space at Cardinia Life.

Sarah also has further training & experience in the area of peri and post-natal exercise prescription.

Sarah’s approach to Pilates as a student and as an instructor always comes back to the principles of optimising movement with a sound state of mind. She love being part of people’s journey and witnessing the joy they discover during their Pilates experience.

Wendy

Introduced to Pilates as part of her dance training many years ago, Wendy enjoys the benefits of a regular practice. She began working as a group fitness instructor in 2008 and eventually specialised in Pilates, studying the movement system and completing a Diploma in Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology in 2021.

Classes are held in what was formerly known as the Cycle studio.

No, reformer classes are a new offering over and above our current membership offerings and require a single or multi-pack pass to be purchased as per prices advertised.

No, you will need to purchase a members pricing reformer packs or single pass.

Mat classes are performed on a mat on the floor and reformer is on an elevated reformer bed which has moving parts.

Reformer classes require you to focus and listen more as there is a lot of Verbal guidance, lots of concentration and there will be spring variations which provides resistance to help movements be performed.

Pilates socks are mandatory for classes & will be available for purchase at reception if you forget them. You will not be allowed to participate without socks.

Safety: Grip socks contain a non-slip sole that enhances traction and helps prevent slips or falls during reformer workouts.

Hygiene: Grip socks contribute to a cleaner, more hygienic environment for everyone in the studio.

Performance & Stability: Grip socks support better balance, control and help improve overall performance allowing smoother transitions during reformer exercises.

If you don’t have grip socks, they are available for purchase at reception.

We can accommodate 7 Clients per session.

No, our classes are designed to cater to all abilities, from beginner to advanced. Instructors will tailor classes to your individual needs.

Wear comfortable stretchy clothing to allow for easy movement, grippy socks are required. Please bring along towel and drink bottle.

Yes, our instructors are highly qualified to deliver safe and effective instruction to suit the individual’s needs.

A friendly, approachable class where the instructor will guide you through safe techniques tailored to your individual needs, leaving you feeling confident and comfortable.

Ensure a Cardinia Life prescreening form has been completed 24 hours prior to attending your first class. (If you are a Health and Wellness Member, you can complete an initial health assessment prior to attending your first class).

Please advise the class instructors prior to class commencing

At the moment we do not have specific pregnancy classes, however you can attend as long as there are no complications with your pregnancy and doctors have advised it is safe for you do so.

Please complete a Cardinia Life pre screening form prior to your first class.

You must have completed your 6-week post-natal check-up and have medical clearance to exercise from your doctor and complete the Cardinia Life Prescreening form.

Sometimes it may take longer for you to receive clearance to resume exercise. This is necessary to ensure it is safe for you to resume physical activity. Everyone is different, so have a chat to your doctor about your individual requirements.
