The Cardinia Seniors Festival 2024, held at Cardinia Life Stadium, was a wonderful celebration of health, community, and active living for seniors across the Cardinia Shire. Presented by Cardinia Leisure in collaboration with Cardinia Shire Council, the event provided a vibrant day of fitness sessions, social activities, and community engagement.
The event featured a bustling Expo with a wide range of local service providers and senior groups, including Your Body Hub, Lifestyle Communities, Monash Health, Pakenham Arthritis Group, Outlook Community Centre, Cardinia Men’s Shed, Probus Pakenham, Cardinia Senior Citizens Group, and many others. These organisations offered valuable resources and support for seniors in the community.
A highlight of the event was the Cardinia Men’s Shed, who hosted a popular free BBQ, serving delicious sausages to keep everyone fueled. Throughout the day, there were a variety of fitness and sports activities designed to engage seniors of all levels, including table tennis, pickleball, walking basketball, and chair exercises. There were also more relaxed options, such as gentle aqua, strong movers, and yoga classes.
One of the cultural highlights was a dynamic dance performance by AfriAus iLEAC, who treated the audience to an energetic and colorful display celebrating African and Indian cultures.
The event was not just about physical health but also about fostering a sense of belonging and community among the seniors of Cardinia. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of staying active, engaged, and connected. We look forward to the next festival and another opportunity to celebrate our senior community!
