Cardinia Life’s Jessie Deakin has been recognised as a Finalist at the Aquatic and Recreation Victoria’s (ARV) 2020 Awards in the Swim Teacher Award category.
The 2020 ARV Awards received over 110 nominations in various categories and to be recognised as a Finalist in a competitive field of candidates is a significant achievement.
Jessie is an energetic and fun swimming teacher, but she has a clear set of boundaries in her lessons, ensuring maximum fun and learning for children. This results in classes that are engaging for all students at all levels, which allows students to progress through levels faster.
Jessie showed her strong leadership skills at the time of her being a young Nipper, in 2015 she received the award for most promising Bronze Cadet, and in 2018 was appointed First Aid Officer. Jessie assisted in coordinating the SLSC training camps, educating future patrol members on water safety, rescue techniques and first aid.
Out of the water, Jessie regularly supports and mentors fellow swim teachers as well as focus on how the swim school program can continuously improve supporting our families. As an aspiring Primary School Teacher, she has an exceptional understanding of how to create a safe and engaging environment for young children.
Cardinia Life’s Head of Swim School, Paula Smith, congratulated Jessie.
“Jessie should be proud of this recognition and what she continues to contribute to the Cardinia Life Swim School program”, said Mrs Smith.
“Jessie is well respected within our teaching team both as a Swim teacher and a Swim Captain, and regularly receives positive feedback from our parents and her colleagues. Congratulations Jessie!”
