Leading up to White Ribbon Day on November 25, Cardinia Leisure will be raising awareness around Domestic Violence by participating in the One Million Stars community project.

Domestic Violence is a widespread, though often hidden problem across Australia. It occurs in all parts of society, often with devastating effects; psychological, social and economic with short and long-term impact across families, children, and the whole community.

Domestic violence (now more commonly known as ‘family violence’) can take many different forms including intimidation, coercion or isolation, emotional, physical, sexual, financial and spiritual abuse.

Cardinia Shire has the second highest reported rate of family violence in the Southern Metropolitan Region, often occurring in front of children.

Cardinia Leisure’s employees, members and guests are all invited to participate in the One Million Stars project by collecting a ‘STAR PACK’ from Cardinia Life and making your very own star. These stars will be collected and sent to be displayed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast.

Cardinia Leisure strongly supports Cardinia Shire Council and Family Life’s Together We Can initiative and we urge everyone in the community to join us on Friday November 25th to take part of the ‘Walk Against Violence’. Together we can help raise awareness and bring an end to domestic violence.
