PRTC Member Protection Policy

Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre (PRTC) is committed to safeguarding children as well as their families and the community. In doing so we aim to ensure that the we can continue to provide a safe and friendly environment for our patrons to enjoy the sport of tennis.

Tennis Australia (TA), with whom PRTC is affiliated, recently commenced a national review which aimed to strengthen TA’s approach to safeguarding children and young people who participate in tennis. The national review was assisted by the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) and was based on nationally recognised standards for their Safeguarding Children Program. As a result of this review, Tennis Australia has made significant changes to the Tennis Australia Member Protection Policy. These changes are aimed at implementing best practice and standards to protect children and young people in their care.

At PRTC we believe all children should be:

Cared For

As such, at our facility we are committed to using best practice standards in recruitment, screening and employment of all personnel including volunteers. As such, all PRTC coaches and administrative staff are required to have Working with Children checks and Police Checks. In doing so we will ensure that child safety is embedded in our culture, reflected in our policies and procedures, and understood and practiced at all levels of our sport.

Moreover, we continue to work to ensure that all children, families, staff and volunteers know what to do and who to tell if they observe abuse or are a victim, and if they notice inappropriate behaviour.

If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe please tell a parent/guardian or PRTC Staff

Junior Tennis Serves up the talent!

It’s safe to say that the PRTC 2019 autumn classic was a smash hit.

Across the three days over 150 cans of tennis balls were opened and over 300 matches were played.

Between Monday April 15th and Wednesday April 17th the 18 court facility played host to a Bronze Series Junior Tournament. Junior players from across the state converged upon the centre to compete in singles and doubles draws for Australian Ranking Points.

Congratulations to all the players who competed in the tournament. Each and every player can be proud of the effort they put in.
