At Cardinia Leisure we understand the importance of mental wellbeing & self-care but, with the constantly changing nature of the Coronavirus pandemic it is understandable that either yourself or someone you know may feel anxious, afraid, or overwhelmed.
In partnership with the Cardinia Shire Council, Outlook Victoria, Monash Health, Headspace, Reclink, Richmond Institute, & Windana we have created a range of online events, activities and resources to create awareness, engage and educate the Cardinia Shire community about mental illness and what we can do to support ourselves and others for Mental Health Week. These events include:
Monday 12th October 5pm – Monash Health will be hosting a webinar on how to deal with difficult emotions presented by City of Casey Senior Mental Health Advisor Troy Macris. During this free webinar you will learn about how to deal with difficult emotions ensuring that you have the skills needed to ride the wave of emotions and support others to ground themselves. Wednesday 14th October 10am– Monash Health will be hosting a webinar with RUOK ambassador Megan Barrow discussing how we can support others and offering tips to help you after you ask someone “are you ok?”. Wednesday 14th October 12pm – Reclink will be talking all things sport during their online guest speaker. Hear from Kate Thomas and Kellie Dunn discuss the how sport can help and benefit your mental health. This event will be streamed live on Reclink South East’s Facebook page. Wednesday 14th October 5:15pm– David Bastian Senior Education Manager of Richmond Institute and Dave Burt Founder – Relations and Development from Sport and Life Training will be guest speakers discussing Mental Health First Aid & the importance of mental health initiatives in local sporting club environments. Thursday 15th October 2pm – local artist Zach Leo will be performing some of his cool originals and some smooth covers live on Facebook that you can stream at home. You can find his Facebook page HERE
Friday 16th October 2pm – We will hearing from a range of guest speakers including Parliamentary Secretary of Mental Health Harriet Shing, Michael Upston Head of Employment Services at Outlook Victoria, Lara Gerrand Community Engagement Officer at Each and Reclink’s Founder Peter Cullen and Reclink State Manager Jason Carter discussing state and local initiatives to help with mental health and were you can find the help that you or a friend may need.
