With the constantly changing nature of the Coronavirus pandemic it is understandable that either yourself or someone you know may feel anxious, afraid or overwhelmed. While it is so important to stay up-to-date it is also important to continue to take care of yourself and others both physically and mentally. According to Mental Health Australia’s website there are five activities that can help with your mental wellbeing during this time including:
1. Staying active: Exercise increases wellbeing and helps reduce symptoms of mental health. Mental Health Australia recommends completing Yoga, Pilates, HIIT routines during isolation as they can be done in a small space and with no equipment. We have recently sent out links to our members to FREE gym and group fitness routines you can complete at home.2. Eat healthy and nutritious meals: Eating a nutritious diet is great for both your physical and mental health. The Healthy Eating Advisory website contains easy and healthy recipes to cook at home. 3. Connect with others: Physical distancing is crucial right now, but social connection showing compassion and kindness is more important than ever. Using video chats such as Zoom and House Party to talk to your friends and family as often as you can help your mental wellbeing.
4. Limit coronavirus media consumption (and choose trusted sources): Choose how often you view the news about the coronavirus and be sure to find news sources that are trustworthy and factual but be sure to also add in some content that makes you laugh and feel comfortable.
5. Try and keep to a routine and make it fun: Keep a regular routine as much as possible, including exercise, sleep, daily chores & work making it fun where you can.
