On Sunday February 10th 2019, Aligned Leisure, operators of Cardinia Shire’s major aquatic and recreation facilities, partnered with the Pakenham Racing Club to raise money for the Casey Cardinia Foundation at the Cardinia Shire Community Fun Run 2019. The Fun Run addresses specific objectives from the Cardinia Shire’s Liveability Plan and attracted all ages and abilities, evident by the number of families at the event.

“We were thrilled to once again organise this event and help raise funds for the Casey Cardinia Foundation, whilst also encouraging physical activity within our local community,” said Acting Cardinia Leisure Manager, Paige Kristalyn.

“It was an astounding success! We promoted a fun and inclusive activity for all members of the family which was well-received. We more than doubled the participation from last year.”

Over 200 people attended the event, with participants running or walking around a 5km and 10km track on the inside of the racecourse.  There were numerous activities across the event to keep kids busy such as pop-up tennis, face painting and balloon twisting.  Local businesses donated gift vouchers, products or services including: Cardinia Life, Shanikas Pakenham, Chelle’s Soulfoods, Be Happy Snacks, Lorna Jane Fountain Gate, Together We Can and The Fresh Fruit Shop Pakenham Lakeside.

The donation of event registration fees to Casey Cardinia Foundation will help drive important community programs and services delivered by the Foundation and supported by local businesses.

Participants were also encouraged to fundraise on with the highest individual fundraiser, Simone Perrin, winning 2 nights accommodation on Phillip Island. Over $5000 was raised across the event for the foundation.
