PRTC Member Protection Policy

Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre (PRTC) is committed to safeguarding children as well as their families and the community. In doing so we aim to ensure that the we can continue to provide a safe and friendly environment for our patrons to enjoy the sport of tennis.

Tennis Australia (TA), with whom PRTC is affiliated, recently commenced a national review which aimed to strengthen TA’s approach to safeguarding children and young people who participate in tennis. The national review was assisted by the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) and was based on nationally recognised standards for their Safeguarding Children Program. As a result of this review, Tennis Australia has made significant changes to the Tennis Australia Member Protection Policy. These changes are aimed at implementing best practice and standards to protect children and young people in their care.

At PRTC we believe all children should be:

Comfortable

Cared For

Safe

As such, at our facility we are committed to using best practice standards in recruitment, screening and employment of all personnel including volunteers. As such, all PRTC coaches and administrative staff are required to have Working with Children checks and Police Checks. In doing so we will ensure that child safety is embedded in our culture, reflected in our policies and procedures, and understood and practiced at all levels of our sport.

Moreover, we continue to work to ensure that all children, families, staff and volunteers know what to do and who to tell if they observe abuse or are a victim, and if they notice inappropriate behaviour.

If you ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe please tell a parent/guardian or PRTC Staff

Or you can use the following confidentially:

24 hour telephone reporting and assistance service: 1800 11 SAFE (1800 117 233)

Email: integrity@tennis.com.au

Website: tennis.com.au/childsafe

The PRTC Child Safe Representative is: David Price, david.price@alignedleisure.com.au 03 5940 8510

Our commitment extends beyond creating an environment that minimises risk or danger. We are committed to building an environment that is both child-safe and child-friendly. Together we can provide an environment in which children feel respected, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

BDTA 2018/19 Season wrap up

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM PRTC

The Summer 2018/2019 BDTA season was a busy one for team PRTC. We entered 5 teams into the draw, welcoming new players and welcoming back others from previous seasons.

Section 9 put in a solid performance throughout the season. Their season consisted of a number of convincing wins and some very narrow defeats. They missed out on a place in the finals by only 4.5 points, a fantastic effort. Well done to Hamish, Patrick, Rory, Tyler, and Rohan.

Section 12 had a tough season against some quality opposition teams. Special shout out to Elijah Ling for stepping up to fill in for the team. Congratulations to Mena, Issac, Isula, Umar, and Wesley for your persistence throughout the season.

Section 15 had a very impressive season, coming into the finals in third place before fighting their way into a grand final showdown. Pearl, Joe, Gavin, and Amna again put on an outstanding display of tennis in the grand final where they were narrowly defeated 36 – 34 . A standout effort!

Section 18 found their feet as the season progressed, working relentlessly to improve. Well done Tayla, Iluh, Stewart, Ali, and Charli, we can’t wait to see what the next season has in store for you.

Section 19 had a phenomenal season. They remained undefeated, a standard that saw them not only win the premiership but also receive the Bill Kucks Perpetual Shield for Best Performed Doubles Team!⁣
Well done Lucy, Sam, Evelyn, Douglas, and Mitchell!

Congratulations to all the teams, players, parents and support crew for a great season. Each one of you can be proud of your efforts and achievements throughout the season, large and small.

Over the last four weeks at Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre, our coaches have been on the lookout for the Student of the Month.

Several students were been nominated by their coaches for their sportsmanship, game improvementdedication to tennisenthusiasm in class and resilience.

This month’s winner was… Patrick Kewin!

Patrick has been a student at PRTC since 2017. Throughout this time he has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and fantastic leadership.

He was the 2018 Winter PRTC MVP, with an impressive 173 game percentage, 73% of matches won, 64% singles won, and 150% Singles game percentage.

Congratulations to Patrick for an outstanding month.

Watch this space for next month’s winner!

It’s the start of the tennis season and we can’t wait to get into the swing of Term 1 2019

Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre’s Hot Shots at the 2019 Aus Open

Twenty Hot Shots superstars from Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre had the experience of a lifetime, showing off their skills over two days at the 2019 Australian Open!

After an early start, our two groups made their way into the city with their coaches and parents. Once there they had the chance to look around, spot famous faces, and get ready for their Australian Open debut. On court, they put their skills on display for the crowds and showed the world what ANZ Hot Shots Tennis is all about. One of our students, Emma A, was even lucky enough to perform the coin toss at the start of a match.

A big thanks to all the parents who helped make this possible. Well done to the students for displaying the very best of our Hot Shots values. We are very proud of all of the Hot Shot students who showcased their skills on court.

Expect big things from this talented group in the future!
