On Sunday March 1st 2020, Aligned Leisure, Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club partnered to raise funds for the Casey Cardinia Foundation.

The annual event, which aims to promote physical activity in conjunction with fundraising, saw more than 130 people run or walk for 5km or 10km around Pakenham Racecourse in Nar Nar Goon.

Over $3000 was raised for the Casey Cardinia Foundation, which provides financial support for community projects across the two municipalities.

Cardinia Leisure Manager and Fun Run committee member Paige Kristalyn said the event was a resounding success and provided a “fun vibe” on the day.

“The event was well received by the community,” she said. “There was face painting and balloon twisting, along with the Cardinia Leisure Street Team car to provide fun activities to keep the children entertained.”

Track marshals were encouraging throughout and all participants received a goodie bag with water and discount vouchers for use at Cardinia Life.

Other local business sponsors included: Shanikas Pakenham, Chelle’s Soulfoods, NC Fitness and Life Fitness.

Regular members of the Cardinia Life Heart Foundation Walking group (pictured) were also present at the event, pulling on their runners for the great cause. The walking group is FREE and meet every Thursday at 9.30am outside the entrance to Cardinia Life.
